Carmen, Bohol received their name in honor of the Lady of Carmel of Spain. Dating back to 1800s, the Spanish culture influenced the locals that led them to name all their barangays taken from Spain’s notable names. There is the Nueva Vida Sur (where the Buenaventurada Farms is located), Montesuerte, Nueva Fuerza, Calatrava, and Guadalupe to name a few.
The pride of Carmen, Bohol is the geographic landmark called the Chocolate Hills. It is another dream of Carmen to have cacao trees growing in the area. History says that the origin of the name Chocolate Hills came from the brown hue the trees turn into during the hot summer season. There are 1,776 cone-shaped hills that attract hundreds of thousands of tourists every year.
With the help of the Department of Tourism, going to Carmen, Bohol has become one of the Top Tourist Destinations in the Philippines.
